James L Forbes was listed as an apprentice in the NYC 1855 census and he was working for Gurney at that time. He died in 1891 at the age of 51 while recuperating from an attack of malaria. Prior to his death, he was a demonstrator for the Eagle Dry Plate Co. He is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery - Brooklyn NY
