Offices of Samuel Morse and Professor John Draper

University Building built in 1835 and demolished in 1894.
In this building, Samuel Morse returned from France with the new discovery of Photography. From the 3rd story stairwell, Morse focused the camera he made across the street at the Church of the Messiah. At the same time, Dr. Draper was experimenting with capturing the first human portrait. He successfully took the portrait of his sister Dorothy Draper.
This building was also the location of the first long distance telegraph transmission.
